METHOD OF PROCESSING ASH RESIDUE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC G21F9/36 G21F9/16

Abstract RU 2381581 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of processing solid radioactive wastes and more specifically to concreting ash residue into cement compounds, mainly on enterprises where 0.5-2 m of ash residue are formed from burning solid radioactive wastes. A container in which a vertical pipe is fitted, where the container ends with a pipe with openings, is successively filled under the unloading bin of the installation for burning solid radioactive wastes with layers of ash residue and a cement-clay mixture in which content of clay ranges from 10 to 15% of the mass of cement. The first and last layers are layers of the cement-clay mixture; the filled container is closed with a lid and subjected to vibration on a vibrating table for 2-3 minutes in different positions: first with the lid up, the container is placed by the side and rotated 30-35 degrees (5-6 times) about the axis and the lid down; further, process water flows under gravity through the vertical pipe into the container until water appears on the surface of the mixture and after repeated vibration in the positions given above, the lid is opened and the mixture is held in air until conversion to a monolith.

EFFECT: possibility of concreting ash residue using ordinary cement, for example M-400 and M-500 portland cement using simple equipment in form of a vibration table.
