FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making magnetic data carriers. In the method of making a magnetic carrier, the substrate of the carrier is deformed by applying stretching forces along one axis. After that a layer of nonmagnetic substance is sprayed on. Magnetic properties are then imparted to sections of the sprayed layer by changing their chemical composition through exposure to accelerated particles, which ensures selective removal of required atoms. Finally, stretching forces are removed from the substrate.
EFFECT: method increases amplitude and shortens duration of the electromagnetic pulse during the magnetising process.
