SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to methods and devices for collecting statistics related to random access operations in a cell of a cellular radio communication network and control of such a random access operation. Statistics are collected (301) for each random access preamble code related to random access detections associated with one or more random access preamble codes used in the cell. Based on the collected statistics, the random access operation in the cell can be controlled by evaluating (311) the collected and after determining (312) that the random access detectios, associated with a specific random access preamble code, show abnormal mode, possibly caused by false random access abnormal operation signal is output, as well as operation and automatic blocking of further use of the said specific random access preamble code in that cell.
EFFECT: improved operation of random access in a cellular radio communication network.
