FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of making large objects from quartz cremics trough aqueous slip casting. The method of making objects from quartz ceramics involves preparation of an aqueous slip by wet-grinding quartz glass in a bead mill, stabilisation of the slip while simultaneusly adding a surfactant, moulding ceramic objects through aqueous slip casting, drying and calcination of the objects. The surfactant used is powdered ammonium carbonate in amount of 0.5-1.5% mg/l of suspension, while stirring during the stabilisation process. The objects are calcined in air at temperature 1150-1200°C for 1-4 hours.
EFFECT: higher density of moulded objects, reduced shrinkage and sintering temperature, improved homogeneity and quality of objects made from quartz ceramics.
