FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in radiation monitoring as apparatus for searching for and determining direction of a photon source in solid angle of 4π sr. The device with a spherical field of view for searching for photon sources has a detecting unit comprising a protective shield in form of a sphere and a multi-element detector, an electronic converter connected to the detector elements and an electronics module connected to the electronic converter. The detecting elements are on edges of a regular polyhedron formed by plates of the electronic converter, inside of which there is a protective shield.
EFFECT: increase in the field of view of the device to a complete solid angle and increase in detecting capacity.
