FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: geometrical parametres of gear wheels are measured after operational wear and compared with identical non-worn gear wheels. Tested gear wheel is connected into closed four-element load-carrying circuit made up of said wheel and two coupled reference wheels and disk-like element with rim the profile of which is identical to that of reference wheels. Element rim width is smaller than that of tested gear wheels. Reference wheels are rigidly fitted on shafts. Tested wheel is fitted thereon to run free on it, while said element can move along the shaft for tooth width of tested wheel. In operation, turn angles of tested wheel and element are registered and compared to judge upon wear of work surfaces of gear wheels. At test start, element is set into one of its extreme positions on the shaft, while after a complete turn of tested wheel, it is displaced along the shaft for element rim width. Measurements are repeated to define additionally as well as amount and character of wear in the same phases of wheel toothed profile.
EFFECT: higher efficiency, accuracy and validity.
