FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises evacuated chamber with its case accommodating hollow cathode with hollow anode arranged therein and connected to external poser supply. Said anode is transparent for electrons and connected to waveguide that extends into the device to output SHF radiation. Note here that cathode and anode emitting surfaces have convex toroidal shape. When radially converging beam propagates into anode cavity, additional ballistic focusing of the beam occurs due to aforesaid toroidal shape of cathode and anode. Said effect increase beam density, reduces loss of electrons within diode assembly to decrease maximum current and increase generation period, thus, to up generation efficiency.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
