FIELD: electromagnetic wave generation technology; high-power microwave oscillators.
SUBSTANCE: proposed microwave oscillator built around virtual radial-beam cathode has vacuum chamber accommodating coaxially mounted hollow cylindrical cathode and anode inserted into cathode which is not in contact with the latter; both are electrically connected to external power supply; anode is made of conductor in the form of helical line transparent for electrons and connected to waveguide changing into microwave output device.
EFFECT: enhanced microwave radiation efficiency due to more effective electron-beam-to-microwave-energy conversion.
