FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to designs of rod fuel elements (FE) that contain facilities for nuclear fuel fixation in process of its transportation, and also for pressing in process of fuel usage, for instance in the form of pellets with a required force. Invention may be used preferably in nuclear reactors of water-water type, for instance VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, RBMK-1500, and also in fast neutron reactors of BY type. Spring fixator is arranged in the form of cylindrical spring, having compensating, buffer and fixing group of turns, which are serially arranged from fuel column and in which pitch of buffer group turns is less than pitch of compensating group turns. Outer diametre of buffer group turns is more than inner diametre of fixing group turns, and outer diametre of buffer group turns is less than the outer one, but is more than inner diametre of compensating group turns.
EFFECT: increased resource of fuel element and depth of fuel burning.
