FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, in particular to a fuel rod assembly and can be used in different types of nuclear reactors. Spring retainer of fuel stack, located in compensation volume of fuel element is sequentially arranged from end of fuel column compensating, and retaining a buffer group turns. Retainer is installed in cladding of a three-stage cylindrical rod having a length smaller diameter stage, providing required force compression of fuel column, while overall length of steps with lowest and average diameter of less than length of compensation volume of 1.5…2.0 diameter of fuel rod. Movement of rod continues until it stops bucking of retainer into fuel compression and post it until touching stem end of fuel column. Further, rod is removed from fuel element, and open end of cladding is sealed with a plug.
EFFECT: technical result is reducing spread and length of spring lock fuel column after installation which provides possibility of increasing fuel loading into fuel rods, increasing its energy production.
