DEVICE FOR PRODUCING CARBON AND HYDROGEN FROM HYDROCARBON GAS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC C01B31/02 C01B3/26 B82B3/00

Abstract RU 2390493 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of hydrogen and carbon materials with nanofibre structure from hydrocarbons. Nitrogen is blown through reactor 1 and a microwave radiation generator 5 is switched on, where the said generator is connected to a microwave waveguide 11 by a coupling element 2 made in form of a doorknob transformer. Particles of the gas-permeable electroconductive initiator substance 10 selected from: iron, nickel, molybdenum, titanium nickelide are heated using the generated microwave radiation. Microwave radiation generator 6, which is connected through a coupling element 3 to a concentrator 13 made from pieces of tungsten flywire, is then switched on. The generated microwave radiation initiates high-frequency volumetric discharge in the region of the concentrator 13. Nitrogen supply is cut, replacing it with a mixture of hydrocarbon gases. Gas flowing through the chamber with initiator substance 10 passes through a non-radiotransparent gas-permeable partition 12, which is made in form of metal gauze from stainless steel into the concentrator 13, in the zone of which final decomposition take place. Pure output components are collected in a carbon collection vessel and in a hydrogen-containing gas mixture collection unit.

EFFECT: invention improves operational characteristics of the device, increases efficiency of the process of converting hydrocarbon gas.
