FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to motor engineering, particularly to process of strengthening seats of valves by method of micro-arc oxidising and can be implemented for strengthening seats of valves of internal combustion engines out of aluminium alloy. The procedure consists in strengthening surface of the valve seat in electrolyte; also strengthening is performed by the method of micro-arc oxidising during 2 hours in electrolyte consisting of distilled water with addition of 1-2 g/l KOH and 2-6 g/l Na2SiO3 at current strength at anode la=0.1÷1.0 A, current strength at cathode Ic=0.1÷1.0 A, voltage at anode Ua=345-405 V and voltage at cathode Vc=90-130 V.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance and micro-hardness of valve seats and processability of procedure.
