ZEMLYAKOV'S METHOD OF MEASURING GAS FLOW RATE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC G01P5/10

FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: thermocouple with thermojunction 2 and two conductors is placed into gas flow. Stabilised current to heat said thermojunction is fed via wire element representing nichrome coils 3 which embraces said thermojunction or at least one of said conductors 8. Thermocouple e.m.f is measured, proportional to cooling gas flow rate. Generated e.m.f., amplified and transformed into electric signal, is sent to multimetre data display in units of gas flow rate. Proposed method is implemented using simple and cheap transducer, a probe, with diametre reduced to needle sizes.

EFFECT: gas flow rate measurement in wide range.
