FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to an electrolysis method of water solutions of hydrogen chloride or alkali metal chloride. During the electrolysis process of alkali metal chloride it is proposed to use an oxygen consuming cathode; for that purpose, the process is implemented at excess oxygen. Oxygen that is required for the electrolysis process is provided by a gas separation device, for example a vacuum pressure cyclic heatless adsorption device (VPSA) or a water separation device. According to the proposed invention, the gas medium enriched with oxygen and formed as a result of the above process is directed again to the gas separation device as feeding gas. Therefore, the gas separation device operates with feeding gas enriched with oxygen that in its turn is directed to a cathode where oxygen consumption takes place.
EFFECT: improved process economy.
