FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves electrochemical concentration of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone on a mercury film electrode. Concentration is carried out for 60-300 s with electrolysis potential of -(0.05-0.15) V on an ethylene glycol background with addition of tetrabutylammonium bromide, subsequently plotting cathode current versus voltage curves with linear potential sweep at a rate of 80 mV/s. Concentration of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone is determined from the peak height at potential value of -(0.25-0.45) V relative a silver chloride electrode.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity and faster analysis.
