FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: electric propulsion system consists of a source of d.c. electric power supply, a propulsion motor, a gear box, three controlled disengaging couplings and control system. The electric power source is coupled with a.c. propulsion motor through static transducer of electric power parametres. The propulsion motor shaft is directly linked with a screw shaft in energy efficient mode, when the first coupling is switched on while the second and third couplings are disengaged. In order to actuate full speed mode, propulsion motor shaft is coupled with the screw shaft through gear box. For this purpose, the first coupling is switched off and the second and the third couplings are engaged. The control system input is connected with screw shaft revolutions setter, while its outputs are connected with static transducer of power parametres and with controlled disengaging couplings. In the second version of electric propulsion system, d.c electric motor is used as a propulsion motor.
EFFECT: reduced weight and size of electric power equipment in electric propulsion system.
