FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention is meant for measuring flow of magneto-conducting medium (e.g. water with magnetite particles). An alternating magnetic field B(t) is applied onto a magneto-inductive flowmetre. The actual rise time (τist) before attaining a constant value (Bconst) of the measuring magnetic field is determined. The actual rise time (τist) is compared with a given rise time (τsoll), determined when a stream (ΦRef) of standard medium (water) flows through the flowmeter. Based on the difference (Δτ) between the actual rise time (τist) and the given rise time (τsoll), the measurement error (F) is determined, and the measured actual volume or mass flow (Φist) of the magneto-conducting medium (11) is corrected so as to compensate for error (F).

EFFECT: invention increases accuracy of measuring flow of medium containing ferromagnetic particles, enables to determine content of magnetic material in the medium flowing through the flowmetre.
