FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining traction coefficient of wheels with the surface of an aerodrome pavement through a dynamic braking technique involves operation of the engine in generator mode, where mechanical energy of the braking element (measurement wheel) is converted to electrical energy and released in form of heat energy in an active load. The normal force of the load P of the measurement wheel on the surface of pavement is determined. Also determined is the braking torque Mbr created by dynamic braking, as well as the traction torque Mtr of the measurement wheel with the pavement surface. The condition (Mbr= Mtr) is constantly maintained. Maximum braking force Pbr.max on the measurement wheel is equal to the traction force Ptr of the measurement wheel with the pavement surface (Pbr.max= Ptr., Pbr.max=P Ktr); traction coefficient is calculated using formulae: Mtr = Ptr.R; Ptr =Mtr/R; Ktr = Ptr/P; where Ktr is the traction coefficient of the measurement wheel with the aerodrome pavement; Mbr is braking torque created by dynamic braking, Nm; Mtr is traction torque of the measurement wheel with the pavement surface, Nm; P is normal force of the measurement wheel on the pavement surface, N; Ptr is the traction force of the measurement wheel on the pavement surface, N; Pbr.max is the maximum braking force between the measurement wheel and the pavement surface, N; R is the radius of the measurement wheel, m.
EFFECT: more accurate measurement of traction coefficient with the pavement surface.
