FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method of determining external interference at the centre of a magnetic induction (MI) gauge. The method involves determination of constants from MI of working and compensation windings of a MI gauge at its centre, compensation for constant magnetic field by establishing constant current of compensation windings, reproduction of MI of the MI gauge by establishing constant current of working coils, measurement of the said current, as well as measuring MI at a point away from the centre of the MI gauge. Determination of the MI constant and MI measurement is carried in 6 or 8 or 12 points equidistant from the centre of the MI gauge. Points of the 6-point group are on semi-axes of the coordinate system of the MI gauge, points in the 8-point group are on corners of a cube whose centre coincides with the centre of the MI gauge, and whose sides are parallel to axes of the coordinate system of the MI gauge, and points in the 12-point group are in coordinate planes of the coordinate of the MI gauge on corners of squares whose centres coincide with the centre of the MI gauge, and whose sides are parallel to axes of the coordinate system of the gauge.

EFFECT: method enables determination of interference taking into consideration its non-uniformity and enables operation of the gauge near interference sources.
