FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: method based on mechatronic system diagnostic models involves detection (5) of faults using a control device inside the mechatronic system and identification (7) of faults using a computer device outside the mechatronic system. When detecting (5) faults, actual values (y) of output signals at the outputs of the system, as well as the time vector (t) are recorded into memory while controlling detection of faults. The given value (y') of the output parametre is subtracted from the actual value (y) of the output signal. There is a fault is the remainder (r) is greater than the maximum allowable detection threshold value (rMax).

EFFECT: invention enables diagnosis of a complex mechatronic system in operational conditions with limited computational power of the diagnostic control device installed on the system.
