FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises base, rail roller supports, rail joint weld deposit pickups, driven profiling cutters with hard-alloy plates secured on milling heads, carriage to carry milling heads and transfer them along the rail axis over the base guides, as well as to locate milling heads across rail lengthwise axis. Proposed device incorporates one milling head for machining rail head surfaces that has horizontal axis of profiling cutter, two milling heads with vertical axes of profiling cutters for machining inclined surfaces of rail head and foot and rail neck and rail foot radius surfaces, and one milling head with horizontal axis of cylindrical cutter for machining rail foot bottom surface. Note here that milling heads are fitted in one carriage to be driven over base guides along rail axis. Note also that each head is arranged in carriage on cylindrical guide to move along cutter rotational axis and around said guide with the help of drives with travel amount pickups. Note that proposed device comprises roller supports fitted on the carriage to lock the rail in machining and measure tail lengthwise and crosswise profiles, carriage and milling head travel amount pickups and pickups signaling about contact between cutters and rail profile surfaces connected with pickups of weld deposit on welded joints and with automatic measurement and process control systems.
