FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to portable current source - independent charging device (ICD) on the basis of direct oxidation of borohydrides of alkali metals which can be used in independent and stationary hydrogen sources for feeding of hydrogen-air fuel cells, as well as in fuel elements of direct oxidation of dissolved fuel, for example in portable independent charging devices for telephone communication and in automobile industry. According to invention, portable current source includes membrane electrode unit made on the basis of solid three-layered gradient porous structure representing the plate from porous non-conducting material the pores of which are filled with ion-conducting electrolyte (6M KOH). To one surface of the plate there applied is cathode catalyst layer containing manganese oxide in the form of nano-particles on porous carrier, and to the other surface there applied is hydrophilic layer of anode catalyst, which represents Ni-Ru-F alloy having the shape of nano-particles on porous carbon carrier; at that, layer of cathode catalyst is adjacent to gas-diffusion layer made from porous tetrafluoroethylene, and layer of anode catalyst is adjacent to the chamber filled with liquid fuel representing borohydride of alkali metal in alkali solution of gel electrolyte including secondary fuel chosen from polyatomic alcohol, such as glycerine, methyl cellosolve as thickener, and perfluorinated connection.
EFFECT: increasing oxygen concentration, reducing ohmic losses, environmental safety of ICD.
