FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: electrolyte contains concentrated solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, mainly 6M KOH, secondary fuel selected from a polyatomic alcohol such as glycerin and additionally contains methyl cellosolve as a thickener, and a perfluorinated compound for ensuring high solubility of atmospheric oxygen and reducing flooding of gas pores of the cathode. The perfluorinated compound is mainly salts of telomeric and completely fluorinated acids, e.g. tetraalkylammonium salts of telomeric or perfluorocarboxylic acids H(CF2)nCOON(C4H9)4, where n= 2-4 or RFCOON(C4H9)4, where RF = C2F5, C3F7, C4F9, usually taken in concentration of 10-12 wt %. Fuel compositions which contain a concentrate of a boron hydride of an alkali metal and the disclosed electrolyte are gel composition which is easy to store before immediate operation of the a fuel cell based stand-alone charging device (SACD).
EFFECT: reduced soaking of the cathode electrocatalyst and possibility of flooding gas pores of the gas diffusion cathode during operation of the stand-alone charging device and storage.
