SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to endocrinology and can be used by doctors of other specialisations. Detected are presence of thyroid gland pathology, disturbance of carbohydrate exchange, heredity in obesity, hypertension and diabetes mellitus, reason of menopause. Value of body weight index is determined and its dynamics in perimenopause period is evaluated. After that prognostic index (PI) is calculated. If PI is higher than zero, higher risk of metabolic syndrome development during nearest five years is predicted, if PI is lower than zero, conclusion about absence of such risk is made.

EFFECT: method allows to realise prediction of risk of metabolic syndrome development in women of 45-55 years depending on thyroid gland state and reason of menopause by totality of informative clinic signs.
