FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to control for foam generation in aqueous media, realised by addition of efficient reagent amount to the system. Composition for foaming of aqueous media includes such ingredients with appropriate concentration, such as polyalkylene glycol, alcoxylates of fatty alcohols and block-copolymer ethylene oxide-propylene oxide, surfactants selected from the group including ethers of polyethylene glycol, ethers of sorbitan, ethers of fatty acids of polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene, dialkylphthalate and polybutene. Method for defoaming consists in addition of specified composition of reagents to treated aqueous media. Advantages of proposed foam generation control effect are more evident at the temperatures from moderate to high and in high-alkali aqueous media, such as alkaline solutions for Bayer process.
EFFECT: inventions provide for increased efficiency of foam generation control compared to standard anti-foaming agents.
