FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: device for detection of fault intended to detect fault of oil level sensor in internal combustion engine (ICE) tray, having lower and upper detectors of oil level, comprises the following components: facility of registration for registration of output signal of upper detector of oil level prior to start of ICE and facility to detect the fact that upper detector of oil level is faulty, if output signal of lower detector of oil level indicates after start of ICE that level of oil is higher that the first reference level of oil level, and output signal of upper detector of oil level registered by registration facility indicates that oil level was lower than the second reference oil level prior to start of ICE.
EFFECT: realisation increases accuracy of fault detection.
