SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for detecting hydrocarbon compounds in engine fluids. Engine testing apparatus comprises an analyzer having a receiving hole for receiving engine oil from an engine in which fuel has burnt, which has exposed engine oil to fuel products, wherein the analyzer is configured to measure the parameters of molecules of each engine oil fraction and provide the measured parameters of the molecules at the output; and a computing device operatively connected to the analyzer and storing executable long-term instructions in memory to perform the following actions: receiving the output signal of the measured parameters of molecules from the analyzer; identification of one or more separate hydrocarbon compounds in fuel products contained in motor oil, based on measured parameters of molecules obtained from the analyzer, and a model obtained based on analyzer data collected from a plurality of known hydrocarbon compounds; and outputting a message on one or more identified individual hydrocarbon connections for display on a display device.

EFFECT: technical result is identification of hydrocarbon compounds in engine fluids.
