FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: dispersion optical element for obtaining a linear optical spectrum which is linear on wave number has a main diffraction grating and an extra dispersing element behind the main diffraction grating at an angle in the plane of diffraction. The extra dispersing element can be made in form of an optical prism or an extra diffraction grating whose groove frequency is different from that of the main diffraction grating.

EFFECT: higher spatial resolution, faster processing of the optical spectrum.
