FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to diagnostic methods of neurovisualisation. Patient in first 48 hours after stroke beginning and on 7-8 day is subjected to magnetic-resonance imaging (MRI), which includes diffusion-weighted (DW-MRI) and MRI perfusion. Diffusion and perfusion characteristics of brain and zones of their "mismatching" are determined. If in first 48 hours volume of zone of "mismatching" constitutes in average 71.5 cm3 [29.7; 135.4] and on the 7-8 day - 54.8 cm3 [-1.4; 173.1], ischemic stroke is considered to be atherothrombotic; if in first 48 hours volume of zone of "mismatching" constitutes in average 57.9 cm3 [3.5; 98.4] and on 7-8 day considerably decreases and constitutes in average -1.4 cm3 [-9.6; 22.2], ischemic stroke is considered to be cardioembolic, if initial lesion focus has volume in average 1 cm3 in first 48 hours and there is no zone of "mismatching", ischemic stroke is considered to be lacunary.
EFFECT: method extends arsenal of means for differential diagnostics of ischemic strokes in acute period of disease.
