METHOD OF RECOVERING MOTOR FUNCTION IN PATIENTS IN ACUTE PERIOD OF ISCHEMIC STROKE IN POOL OF CAROTID SYSTEM ARTERIES Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B5/55

Abstract RU 2508048 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, neurology, methods of neurovisualisation in patients at the stage of acute stroke in pool of carotid system arteries, and can be used for predicting recovery of motor potential in order to individualise rehabilitation procedures. In acute period of stroke - on 14-15 day - MRT of brain is performed in mode of diffusion-tensor (DT) MRT with determination of fractional anisotropy (FA) and ratio of fractional anisotropy (rFA) to assess changes in state of pathways of pyramidal tract beyond infarction area, at the level of base of cerebral peduncle and posterior limb of internal capsule. FA values are determined in infarction side and intact side in symmetrical areas and rFA ratio is calculated by formula: rFA=FAsd/FAis, where FAsd represents side of infarction and FAis - intact side. If rFA is lower than 0.7 for the levels of base of cerebral peduncle and posterior limb of internal fraction, prognosis of motor recovery is considered to be unfavourable.

EFFECT: method ensures earlier and more acute prediction of rehabilitative potential of patients, starting with 14 day of ischemic stroke, with application of diffusion-tensor (DT) MRT, the data of which can be used to predict absence of recovery of motor functions already in acute period.
