FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oxidation of elementary mercury during fuel combustion. A method is disclosed for oxidising elementary mercury during fuel combustion, involving addition of a composition which contains bentonite into a combustion chamber, boiler or burning furnace below the combustion zone in the burner area at temperature approximately between 500°C and 1300°C.
EFFECT: method provides efficient oxidation of elementary mercury and enables to minimise emission of mercury into the surrounding medium.
