FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: flange connection has tapers on packing surfaces of flanges, and packing and fixture elements ensuring connection tightening. Also here is used an aluminium packing corresponding to ¾ of circle in cross section in I, II and III quadrants, while in IV quadrant - corresponding to a square, side of which equals to radius of the said circle. Two sides of square are conjugated by these radii at 3/4 of the circle. Surface of the packing is coated with a layer of lead. Different one from another angles of tapers incline of packing surfaces together with cylinder surfaces of the flanges form a seat of packing in cross section corresponding to inter-conjugated rays of two acute angles. The lesser acute angle of this cross section and square in cross section of the packing coincide in direction. On tapers of packing surfaces of the flanges there are made circular grooves filled with the packing at flange connection tightening. The procedure for flange connection assembly consists in packing installation and in flange connection tightening. Prior to flange connection tightening the flanges are juxtaposed till their contact with the packing; also there is controlled uniformity of a gap along perimetre between end surfaces of the flange connection. The fixture elements are crisscross tightened with force ensuring uniform decrease of the gap along perimetre between end surfaces of the flange connection during tightening to the moment of contact of flange end surfaces. There is made an interval for packing relaxation. The fixture elements are crisscross re-tightened with control of end flange surfaces contact along perimeter of the flange connection.

EFFECT: raised reliability of flange connection under conditions of cryogenic temperature.
