FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method of monitoring preservation of metrological characteristics of automated measurement systems which contain controlled sources of test effects, information-bearing parametre measurement devices, devices for measuring parametres of uncontrolled external effects and a control computer. The method enables to assess metrological characteristics by using connection cables with parametres which are stable in time to connect outputs of corresponding sources of stimulating effects to inputs of information-bearing parametre measurement devices, and intactness of measurement devices and the system as a whole is determined based on statistical data obtained from measurement which are processed by the computer.

EFFECT: longer calibration interval of measurement systems, more efficient and reliable monitoring of complex objects.
