FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology. The differential diagnosis of chronic hypertrophic and vasomotor rhinitis is ensured by measuring nasal breathing airflow volume by anterior active rhinomanometry (AARM). On the first day, the AARM is applied in a plantigrade position, then in a recumbent position to calculate a difference of nasal breathing airflow volumes in the plantigrade and recumbent AARMs. On the next day, a monitoring AARM in the plantigrade position follows, then an intranasal vasoconstrictor is administered and 30 minutes later, the AARM with pharmacological test is performed. A difference of values of nasal breathing airflow volumes in the AARM with pharmacological test and the plantigrade AARM. Further, the first and second differences are summarised. At total value exceeds 500 ml/sec, vasomotor rhinitis is diagnosed; total difference of 300-500 ml/sec enables to diagnose vasomotor rhinitis with hypertrophic manifestations; and total value less than 300 ml/sec indicates the diagnosis of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis.

EFFECT: technique provides higher accuracy of differential diagnosis of chronic hypertrophic and vasomotor rhinites.
