FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: pressure sensor has a deformable housing made from compressible material. First and second pressure connections for the deformable sensor housing are configured to receive first and second pressure values. A deformation sensor built into the deformable housing has electrical properties which vary with deformation of the housing. Electric connections of differential pressure run from the outer surface of the deformable sensor housing having electrical properties which vary with difference between the first and second pressure values to the built-in deformation sensor. The process control transmitter has a transmitter circuit connected to the pressure sensor. The pressure measurement method involves determination of differential pressure based on deviation of a diaphragm installed in the pressure sensor housing and determination of pressure in a pipe based on deformation of the sensor housing.
EFFECT: measurement of differential pressure using suitable configurations of a built-in deformation sensor.
