OPERATION OF NICKEL-HYDROGEN STORAGE BATTERY (NHSB) Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC H01M10/44

Abstract RU 2401484 C2

FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in staging charge-discharge cycles with control of control storage batteries (CB) and periodical storage in discharged state. Note here that discharged NHSB is periodically charged to compensate its self-discharge. Note also that storage is started after charging to (0.1-0.2)Crat, where Crat is rated capacity, while in storage it is charged to initial charge of CB. Besides duration of the first storage term between rechargers is set to make 30 days, while duration of subsequent terms is corrected in every next recharging proceeding from actual capacity of self-charge for preceding storage term defined by the following formula: Ti=Tpr·ΔCrech/ΔCst, where Ti is duration of the next storage term; Tpr is duration of previous storage term; ΔCrech is capacity produced in recharging; ΔCst is capacity during previous storage term defined by the formula: ΔCst=ΔPst·KE, where ΔPst is pressure reduction in CB during previous storage term; KE factor to convert pressure in capacity.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability of NHSB.
