FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method to operate nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries (NHAB) in composition of artificial earth satellites (AES) consists in monitoring voltage of each accumulator (A), monitoring pressure of hydrogen in control A, completion of charging and discharging cycles, periodical boosting with impulse current, with averahe boosting current value within (0.02-0.04) of nominal capacitance and storage in charged condition. Boosting with pulse current is carried out during the entire period of NHAB storage in charged condition. Moreover, after boosting has been started, a control A with least voltage is selected from the number of control As, besides, voltage measurement is carried out during charge pulse passage, this voltage value is accepted as the reference, and boosting is done in the mode of average boosting current control depending on current value of control A voltage. At the same time if the current value is higher than the reference one, then the boosting current is increased, and if it is less - it is reduced. Besides, control of the average boosting current is carried out using values calculated according to the following formula: Ibc/a=(0.02-0.04)·Cn·(1+(Ucur-Uref)·k), where Ibc/a - average boosting current value, A; Cn - nominal capacitance, A, A·hr; (0.02-0.04)·Cn - average boosting current, A; Ucur - current value of charging voltage of reference A, V; Uref - voltage of reference A at boosting start, V; k - control (essence) coefficient, selected in the range from 1 to 10, V-1. At the same time the calculated boosting current values below 0.01 Cn are equated with 0.01Cn, A.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability of nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries operation.
