FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device for determining elastic-ductile properties of material during monoaxial extension of arched specimens is in form of a composite circular guide consisting of two fragments. The fragments of the circular guide are fitted with a mechanism for attachment to ends of the specimen and have bearing surfaces lying in one geometrical surface whose shape coincides with that of the arched surface of the specimen. Fragments of the circular guide can turn about a common axis which coincides with the axis of the bearing surfaces and are fitted with coaxial articulated shank ends directed in opposite sides and joined to the test machine grips. The joint between the fragments of the guide is in form of a projection with a longitudinal section lying symmetrically on the width of the guide and dividing the arched surface of the specimen into equal parts between both fragments within the length of the projection.
EFFECT: more accurate determination of mechanical properties of material of thin-walled shells through exclusion of the effect of frictional forces on test results when the deformed specimen slides in the guide within the longitudinal part of the specimen.
