DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR CENTRAL ACOUSTIC DISTURBANCES Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B5/12 A61B5/484

Abstract RU 2402266 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otoneurology. If observing the complains of tinnitus both accompanied with decrease in hearing or not, decrease, tonal audiometry (TAM) and tympanometry are applied in a patient. Brainstem auditory evoked responses (BAER) and acoustic reflex are examined additionally. The tonal audiometry is conducted in the extended frequency range 125 to 20000 Hz. If the examination shows perceptive hearing loss of various degree of manifestation, dissociation or loop of ipsi- or contralateral reflexes, the BAER reveals amplitude contraction of 3-5 peaks and prolongation of the latent periods between them as compared with a norm, while the TAM examination records such features of impaired hearing as increase in the sensitivity thresholds within the range 16000-20000 Hz, a disturbance of acoustic analyser caused by CNS demyeliniation is diagnosed that allows detecting multiple sclerosis at the early stages and initiating pathogenetic treatment.

EFFECT: method allows for higher diagnostic accuracy.
