FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption technologies and can be used to obtain carbon adsorbents used in treatment of effluent of chemical and pharmaceutical industries, as well as for treating drinking water. Activated carbon with bactericidal properties is obtained by drying initial carbon at 230-280°C in an air atmosphere, saturation with a silver nitrate solution with concentration of 0.08-0.10 wt % at 60°C and subsequent drying at 90-140°C while raising temperature at a rate of 8-20°C/min and then cooling.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain activated carbon with bactericidal properties, high adsorption capacity during purification of organic and organochloride compounds, as well as high wearing resistance.
