FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: device contains a push-pull oscillator with its dc input pins connected to the pins of a direct voltage source (1). The ac terminal pins of the oscillator through a resonant choke (2) and a resonant capacitor (3) are connected to an electrode circuit of a gas-discharge lamp (4). Controlling circuits of transistors (5 and 6) are connected to controlling windings of a current switch transformer (7). In each half-wave of a frequency-setting lamp ignition circuit consisting of an auxiliary winding (9) of the transformer (7) and an auxiliary winding (10) of the resonant choke (2), current inducing voltage drop on the auxiliary windings of the transformer (7) and choke (2) flows, thereby making the transformer (7) to saturate faster. Cutting time of the current transformer saturation enables higher switch frequency of the oscillator and voltage drop of the resonant condenser. After certain temperature of electrode heating is achieved, the lamp is turned on, and the start-up occurs at greater frequency than that of the resonant circuit, hence, at lower voltage on its electrodes. A key (12) is used to adjust a lamp ignition point. The introduction of the frequency-setting ignition circuit allows to arrange the lamp ignition at low voltage on the pre-heated electrodes.
EFFECT: prevented electrode destruction and higher lamp endurance enabled by cheaper techniques to provide the optimal product cost.
