FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical processing of parts, particularly to thread cutting with the help of ultrasound. Tool with plug-in cutter is used. Tangential ultrasound oscillations are imparted to said cutter to increase efficiency of the tool. Then cutter is arranged on the tool. Additional thread processing is performed by imparting radial ultrasound oscillations to the cutter to generate compressing residual strains in threaded part surface layer.
EFFECT: higher fatigue strength and longer life.
