FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of preparing natural gas during production of ammonia involves throttling gas from a main pipeline, compressing said gas as fuel, heating, hydrogenation and desulphurisation. Throttling of the gas from the main pipeline with pressure of 5.5-7.0 MPa is carried out until achieving pressure of 3.5-4.5 MPa, 25-45% gas is collected and then throttled to pressure of 0.8-1.2 MPa. The obtained gas is used as fuel and the remaining portion of gas at pressure of 3.5-4.5 MPa is taken for heating in a block of recuperative heat exchangers or a direct-fired heater if additional heating is required.

EFFECT: invention improves the process flow of preparing natural gas for the reforming process.
