SUBSTANCE: in one aspect, control of transmission for a cellular network can be ensured by ranking node points of a network or stations in the cellular network. In one scheme, the rank of the first station in the cellular network can be determined. At least one station of a rank lower than that of the first station can be identified in the cellular network. At least one transmission parametre for at least one station of a lower rank can be established using the first station. In another aspect, stations can be assigned various transmission parametre values to meet requirements for data of each station. At least one transmission parametre value can be selected for each station based on rank, QoS requirements, amount of traffic and/or data transmission speed provided for that station, and said value can be sent to a station, for example through a message which is a reply to a test message.

EFFECT: efficient control of transmission in a cellular network.
