FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: detection of rhodium (III) in an analysed solution of a nitrite complex involves its electrochemical reduction to metal on a mercury film electrode and then electrochemical stripping of the reduced rhodium while plotting the current-voltage curve. Concentration of rhodium (III) in the nitrite solution is determined from the value of the anodic peak of electrochemical oxidation of the previously reduced rhodium. The background electrolyte used is methanoic acid. Electrochemical stripping of the reduced rhodium is carried out while varying the potential of the working mercury film electrode at a rate of 50 mV/s and the current-voltage curve is plotted. The analytical signal of rhodium is the height of the anodic peak of electrochemical stripping.

EFFECT: invention enables detection of rhodium from a solution of its nitrite complex.
