FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: detection of palladium (II) in an analysed solution of a nitrite complex involves its electrochemical reduction to metal on a carbon-containing electrode and then electrochemical stripping of the reduced palladium while plotting the current-voltage curve. Concentration of palladium (II) in the nitrite solution is determined from the value of the anodic peak of electrochemical stripping of preliminarily reduced palladium. The background electrolyte used is potassium nitrate. Electrochemical stripping of the reduced palladium is carried out while varying the potential of the working carbon-containing electrode at a rate of 40 mV/s and the current-voltage curve is plotted. For the carbon-containing electrode, the range of determined concentrations of palladium (II) is equal to 0.05-3.00 mg/l. The analytical signal of palladium is the height of the anode peak of electrochemical stripping of Pd(0) on the current-voltage curve in the region of potential from 0.4 to 1.2 V.
EFFECT: stripping voltametric detection of palladium directly in a solution of its nitrite complex without preliminary preparation, which cuts duration of analysis, maintains sensitivity, increases the range of determined concentrations and reduces detection error.
