SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in designing stereoscopic and autostereoscopic (non-eyeglass) television sets and monitors with maximum spatial resolution in each aspect of the stereo image, equal to full spatial resolution of optical structures - imaging devices, as well as for designing flat autostereoscopic displays on liquid-crystal matrices of virtually any type. The method and apparatus employ a combination of summation and duration modulation of light flux, linearised on results of recording intensity of the light flux in the left side and right side windows for creating aspects of the stereo image, so as to create and view a stereo image using optical modulators with two arbitrary mutually complementary optical state and an arbitrary function for switching in between them.
EFFECT: improved quality of stereo image in the method and device owing to realisation on optimised optical structures independent of the degree of complexity of their configuration during autocompensation for nonlinearity of transfer characteristics of the optical structures.
