FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electronic automatic control systems (ACS) with gas turbine engines (GTE) with free turbine, which are used as a part of gas turbine units (GTU) for drive of electric generators (EG) of gas turbine power stations (GTPS). Essence of the invention consists in the fact that in addition after EG is connected to the load, value of radial gap is measured between stator casing and rotating blades of last compressor stages, measured value is compared to the pre-set one which is determined with calculation-and-experimental method for each GTU during its commissioning test; as per mismatching value there formed is control action on air flow which is supplied to cool the stator casing of GTU compressor; radial gap value is measured between stator casing and rotating blades of turbine of GTU gas generator, measured value is compared to the pre-set one which is determined with calculation-and-experimental method for each GTU during its commissioning test; as per mismatching value there formed is control action on air flow which is supplied to cool the stator casing of turbine of GTU gas generator.

EFFECT: increasing economy of GTU operation owing to improving GTU control quality, which ensures active control of radial gaps in flow part of compressor and turbine of engine.
