FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: variable focal distance lens has rim with a front and a rear surface. A flexible membrane is held between the front surface of the rim and an entirely rigid transparent front cover. On the rear surface of the rim there is a rear cover, such that the cavity formed between flexible membrane and the rear cover can be filled with liquid. The amount of liquid in the cavity can be varied so as to change curvature of the flexible membrane, thereby changing optical characteristics of the lens. The rim is integrated with a projection whose hollow inside is linked to the said cavity and forms a reservoir for liquid used in the variable focal distance lens.
EFFECT: easy use of spectacles using such lenses.
