FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: comparison electrode is in form of a conducting plate whose surface is covered by a non-conducting coating which forms a conducting drawing consisting of simple geometry elements of different shapes and sizes. The number of elements of each variety per unit area of the surface of the comparison electrode is selected based on the condition for conformity to the average number of similar elements per unit area of the metal coated surface. The conducting plate is additionally coated with a non-conducting coating which forms a conducting drawing in form of a contour the width of whose lines of which is equal to the width, area - area of the frame of the metal-coated article, a conducting drawing on the front surface of the conducting plate in form of a contour the width of whose lines of which is equal to the thickness, area - area of the faces of the metal-coated article, and the spacing of the contour lines is greater than twice their width.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring metal coating area.
